Why does this website exist?
A passion for learning
(and an outlet for creativity)
I decided to use WordPress to teach myself how to build a website. Incidentally, I use it to share my thoughts, and photos of my life and travels in the absence of an active social media presence.
My journey towards WordPress was fueled by the search for a new hobby during the lockdown resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. In the interest of self-promotion, here are some other platforms/technologies I’ve become comfortable using since 2020:
Containerized Applications/Services
Successful deployment of 75+ Docker application configurations. Experienced at building Compose stacks, troubleshooting connectivity and functionality issues, and utilizing the Nvidia Container Toolkit for successful hardware passthrough.
Security Best Practices
Protecting web-accessible applications using HTTP auth, OAuth2, OIDC, and Two-Factor Authentication via OTP and security keys (Yubikey). Managing users, invites, and user permissions in authentication applications such as Authentik and Authelia.
Hypervisor Clusters
Deploying and maintaining a cluster of hypervisor nodes using Debian and Proxmox Virtual Environment for running a variety of Virtual Machines and LXCs, as well as utilizing the ZFS file system in Proxmox for High Availability via data replication, and efficient backup of VM and container volumes.
AWS Lightsail and EC2
This website built in WordPress, as well as some other key resources/applications I’ve deployed are being hosted on a Debian server instance via AWS. Additional applications running locally at my home are being reverse-proxied via site-to-site VPN tunnel.
Network Attached Storage
Experience with various NAS operating systems, including TrueNAS Scale, unRAID, and Open Media Vault.
Home Assistant
An in-depth understanding of the open-source Home Assistant platform for smart-home functionality and automation.
